Seems like the story could use a line about how Solotaroff tried to speak with Rick or the sister, but they declined.

I'm no psychologist, but I'm guessing being raised the way he was had a lot to do with the way he is today. And he and Rick have been pretty successful, so he has gotten past his parents, but the way he thinks and operates was surely shaped by them and the atmosphere he grew up in.

I understand the point. But he's made his own bed in other ways.
