Thought the end was funny, with Paige claiming they wrestled around on the Cold Pizza set after Skip's shot about sexual partners, and Skip denying it. Guessing we would have seen that footage by now, since Paige claims they rolled around on the floor on national television. I admit I watched that show fairly often during my morning routine back then and never saw anything of the sort.

I'm no psychologist, but I'm guessing being raised the way he was had a lot to do with the way he is today. And he and Rick have been pretty successful, so he has gotten past his parents, but the way he thinks and operates was surely shaped by them and the atmosphere he grew up in.

Agreed. I thinks he's an obnoxious prick, but I thought this was a good story.

Read the first part of the Power and the Glory story, and it also mentions Michalik's abusive childhood, and he doesn't talk to anyone to confirm this either (unless he does later in the story -- that sumbitch is loooong). Wonder if this is a pattern or if he just can't get anyone to speak on it? Still could use a line saying that the father/brother/whoever would not comment.

I, too, am originally from Oklahoma City. Even grew up about a mile from Northwest Classen, where Bayless went to school. So, I was interested to see if Winston Havenstrite might come up in a Google search. Well, the guy may have been a tyrannical baseball coach, but he was also at Iwo Jima. I don't know if that's relevant to anything, but everything that involves Bayless seems to be over the top. If you're curious, here's the story on the old baseball coach, assuming he was the Knights' baseball coach. Story doesn't metion it, but I think there's only one Winston Havenstrite in the world. One item I found amusing is that Bayless is portrayed as a workout warrior. And I suppose he is. But in the print edition he is photographed sitting at what looks like a a shoulder press machine that has over 200 pounds of dumbbells loaded. At 61 Bayless can lift that? I don't think so.

I liked it. Smiled some. I thought the Massengill line was funny (too lazy to look up the correct spelling). I agree with the author's final paragraph, though I don't watch Bayless as often to have a legitimate opinion. But I don't like the pompous self-righteous tone. My rambling point is, I don't like Bayless anymore for reading that story, but it was interesting.

The author should have checked with Bayless' siblings or parents.
1: To see if the allegations about his mom and dad are true.
2: To get the other side of Skippy's story that his siblings were mad because he "left the chaos."

Like Verse said the story was interesting, but it doesn't make me like him or hate any more than I do now.
