...and I'm on this site? Where are my priorities?

Seriously though, Rusty Shackleford would sign his own name to a document if it would get him this job. (Hopefully someone out there gets that joke...)

You got this, Rusty.

Just let this visual run through your head, repeatedly.

What do you think this is Singles? Its Shawn Kemp, not Griffey Jr.

Seriously, good luck. With respect to when I interview and when I interview others,

1. Have no doubt that you can fulfill the requirements and exceed them

2. Remember this is a two way street, make them explain why its a good place for you to work. You don't want to go somewhere then leave shortly thereafter because the place sucked or it was not a good fit. You are a wanted commodity, make them sell you as well. Doing this will put you in the 1% of potentials and make you memorable.

It's Xavier McDaniel, not Shawn Kemp.

(but, the sentiment is the same - Go get 'em Rusty)

Remember to prepare for that question along the lines of "What don't you do well?"

I was still answering that while they were ushering me out the door.

Maybe you could just hit the highlights.

And don't forget about the inevitable gotcha question that only an employer with a liberal agenda would ask: "What do you read?"

Avoid saying "Everything" and then failing to name even a single thing.

Good luck. Drop that unemployment rate!

it went well I think. Who knows though. I've thiught others went well and didn't get the job. I should hear next week. I'll update SJ when I do.

If he thinks about Shawn Kemp during the interview, he might come away wanting to bang the boss' daughter.

No word yet from that job interview. I'm getting nervous. I'm supposed to hear by the end of Friday...

On a side note, I had an interesting email exchange that reminds us all to make sure you're careful about hitting 'reply' and double-checking the address in the 'to' line of an email. I got an email randomly just now that was in reply to my email application for a job. It was my cover letter and resume, and the reply said "Set up an interview with this dude." Nothing more, nothing less. So I replied to that message with "I'd be glad to, but what 'dude' are you talking about?" A few minutes later I got a response of "Well, as you can probably tell, that was meant to be an internal email. Congrats, though, because we want to interview you for the position. Can you see why we need a new communications specialist? Haha. Kelli will be in touch."

Anyway, I was laughing pretty hard at that and wanted to share.

That's an awesome email exchange... and a great recovery by the person you were dealing with. Hope one of the two work out :)

Good luck Rusty, and if they offer you a job, you should insist upon being called "Dude" for the entire time you're in the office.

And get a rug that really pulls the room together.
