MSNBC reporting that there is video footage of a possible suspect: A white male in his 40s. Also that there is a "grainy susbstance," possibly fertilizer, in a gun locker in the SUV.

There was talk last night of video footage from a number of area cameras...on corners and on some of the area buildings, like Bank of America on 45th.

There also was mention during Bloomberg's 2 a.m. presser of a 2-X-2-X-4 foot metal gun locker taken from the SUV to be detonated at the bomb squad's facility in the Bronx.

I get a little flustered thinking that two weeks ago today I was standing right outside the Marriott Marquis or that my sister works withing two block of there.

I took the subway right through there late last night without any idea this stuff was going on.

There is also a theory this had something to do with the threats against Comedy Central because of the South Park cartoon that lampooned Mohammed.
The SUV was parked on 45th street, just a few feet from the Broadway headquarters of Viacom, which owns Comedy Central.

The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, to give it its full name, has killed thousands of Pakistanis, and has far, far more technical expertise on bombs, and just as important, access to real explosives, than this device indicates. So I'd be surprised if it was them. They probably said so because real U.S. drone bombs fall on them with regularity.
