The Idaho Press-Tribune is looking for a new Sports Editor. We're looking for someone who has gotten their hands dirty [ideally 5 years' experience or more] working at as an Assistant Sports Editor or Sports Editor at least one paper with a large circulation.

This presents an opportunity to work for a local paper that is passionate about local and community news, and also with the hunger to grow and expand. Would provide an opportunity to move to the Boise, Idaho area which has a rapidly growing economy and lively downtown with great restaurants, low crime, good schools, great living costs, and driving distances to a ski-hill, various primer rivers, and some of the best hiking/camping in the country. God damn, that's a long job description.

If I were to leave my paper tomorrow, the job description for my position would probably amount to: Must be able to form complete sentences, learn InDesign quickly if you don't already know it, and understand that the lowest scorer in both golf and cross country are the winners.

I don't want to "mansplain" this, and I'm sure most of you know this already. But job summaries are detailed by choice. That way, if you ever come back and say, "I didn't know I had to do that," they have it down there in black and white that yes, you should have known.

And often, some of the requirements listed are never called upon in the job.

Definitely the most detailed one I've ever seen. Interesting is that it doesn't say what the paper's circulation is. Does that even matter anymore?

I looked and saw that unofficially, it was listed at 19,900 and was the sixth-largest daily in Idaho. Interesting, because it seemed as if that four-page job description had 19,900 words. Wouldn't be surprised if the (no OT) salary was 19,900, also.
