I don't know how to swallow this because I worshiped Dr. J when I was young.

I tried reading a bit of this, but as a new father, I cannot muster anything more than an F-you to Dr. J.

Great work, of course, by Friend.

OK I'm barely into this, but this line made me cringe ...

"He was a freelance dunker and she was a freelance writer ..."

:-X

You're just now realizing Dr. J has an illegitimate daughter?

1999 called. It wonders if you just discovered "Beautiful Stranger," too.

But he finally spoke to her about, what, three months ago? Yes, I knew the story with his daughter, but I assumed that he had made contact. I always thought of him as one of the good guys.

Just about the time the Dr. Pepper commercials hit the air.

Has anyone heard the rumor that Magic has AIDS? I bet he'll have to retire.

'good guy' is a relative term and in the context of sports it's largely a media creation. Dr. J has a flaw, so does Ray Lewis. Ray didn't actually kill someone; who did the worse deed? For my money Dr J did.

I'll get to this story after I'm done reading the new one on Barkley throwing this guy through a plate glass window...

Honestly, this story goes much deeper into their relationship than anything I am sure any of you had read previously

There is absolutely noting new here that wasn't written when Alexandra had a brief run of success at Wimbledon nearly 10 years ago.
For Friend to say that she tucked her father way for a quarter of a century is not true. She was questioned about Dr. J at major tennis tournaments in 1999-2000 and she and Samantha refused to talk about it.
I also recall reading that Doc tried to contact her then and Samantha cut him off from her.

Plus... I question the veracity of what he ascribes to Alexandra when she was 5.

Hey, didn't O.J. used to be a Hall of Fame running back for the Bills?

I thought he worked for Hertz. Thanks for the information.
