This is a crucial role in an organization that has more reporting dedicated to high school sports than many others in our industry -- and deep journalistic experience is not a must. You will track down and post scores from prep and high school games around the region. This is a part-time position that could be ideal for someone working on their journalism degree, and your success here could set you up to advance in our organization (in fact, many Reporters and Editors started in this role). Oregonian Media Group is a media leader that is combining cutting edge digital with a standard for journalistic excellence proven over 163 years. You will be part of an exciting initiative to take us even further into the digital space, but also join a team that already has solid multimedia savvy.

To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have:
Some experience in journalistic reporting and writing, whether in college or professionally.
Strong knowledge of sports statistics; previous experience with agate font is a plus.
Reporting, writing and organizational skills, and a solid understanding of news writing, journalistic ethics and story structure.
The ability to:
Build, maintain and engage an active audience.
Capitalize on high-value topics by engaging audiences in frequency and urgency.
Leverage relationships with sources to deliver content that differentiates the organization from competitors
Learn and understand search engine optimization (SEO) practices.
