Too many years ago to remember, before I became the Sports Diva and something called a 30 Plus Teams Tour and 30 Plus Teams 30 Plus Dreams, didn't even cross my mind, I worked as a Reservation Sales Agent in Boston and Los Angeles with Delta Airlines and in Los Angeles with Malaysia Airlines.
The farthest place I had traveled to was Boston, Massachusetts to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on Delta Airlines, and I wasn't even working with them then.
The flight was really longer than it needed to be with stops in Salt Lake City,Utah and then Portland, Oregon before my flight landed in Vancouver.
That was my longest trip and farthest that I had ever taken before I worked for Malaysia Airlines and the cities of Brisbane and Sydney said, "hold my beer."
10 hours or more was nothing.
Since I worked for Malaysia Airlines at the time, I decided to be adventurous on this vacation.
Forget Canada or the United States, I was going to the Land Down Under, Australia.
Yeah, the flight from Los Angeles was going to be almost 22 hours, I had my passport and my electronic visa that you needed to enter the country.
I was ready.
I did something on my first trip that I learned NEVER to do on the rest of the trips that would take in my lifetime.
Instead of having a long layover in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, I flew directly to Brisbane.
Not smart at all, girlfriend.
I had major jet lag and instead of enjoying some of the sights in Brisbane, I spent it looking at the four walls of the hostel that I was staying at.
When I went to Sydney a few years later, I learned my lesson.
I spent the night at a hotel near the airport in Kuala Lumpur and took my flight the next morning.
I can honestly say that I liked Sydney a lot better than Brisbane.
Sidney reminded me a lot of the two cities that I call my home, New York City and Boston.
Since English is spoken in Australia, no culture shock , just had to get used to their currency, some of which I still have to this day.
Oh yeah, I did learn something else about the country as I filled out my customs cards for both cities.

Sydney is in the state of New South Wales and Brisbane is in the state of Queensland and both are the capitals of both states.
