Probably a hyperbolic title, but fans of "Jericho" are mounting a considerable protest over the show's cancellation. The fact that CBS is acknowedging the uproar is noteworthy in itself.

The funniest one is shipping loads of nuts to CBS headquarters. "Nuts," of course, represents a line in the show which, in turn, references Gen. McAuliffe's famous retort to the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge.

Here is one of the sites dedicated to saving the show: http://www.myspace.com/savejerichonow . It will direct you to numerous other websites, and also to contact info for CBS. Please click on the links and sign online petitions — tens of thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands at this point) already have.

There's also a move afoot to get TNT to pick up the show. Which means if TNT does, it'll be set to start at 8 p.m. but won't till 8:50. ;D

Re: Help save "Jericho"

My favorite line from the Web site ...
Katie Couric, 6 million viewers - still on the air.
Jericho, 8 million viewers (at least) - canceled.

Re: Help save "Jericho"

Poor Skeet....I have a major thing for him and now he won't grace my television screen. I have to witness more of Katie Couric (well, a confession, I watch ABC because of people I know there ;D)

I thought it was doing fairly well. What a travesty!!! (Okay, too much Corrie Street because I am talking like Deidre now ::))

Re: Help save "Jericho"

NBC would kill for 8 million loyal viewers at this point, I guarantee you. (Could've been 11 million if not for that hare-brained hiatus.)

The protest is starting to escape the BLOGosphere:

Many Jericho fans are gravitating to the Rally Point:

Already up to 821 members in less than a week.

By comparison, SportsJournalists.com had 301 in its first week.

Should be titled "**** away your hard-earned money trying to convince a giant, soulless, heartless corporation to change its mind."

Re: Help save "Jericho"

Long-overdue bump. Two at-length stories in NYT, and once AP gets hold of it, this story will ... uh ... blow up.

Can you believe 26,000 pounds of nuts? Crikey.

Re: Help save "Jericho"

This cancellation thing displeases me.

Re: Help save "Jericho"

Any update on this "rescue" mission? If Skeet truly doesn't have a job, I could offer him some work. ;D

FROM TV GUIDE:
Exclusive: Jericho on Verge of Renewal

OK, this is nuts!

Multiple sources are telling me that CBS is this close to sealing a deal to bring Jericho back for at least eight episodes, possibly at mid-season.

My spies caution that this is in no way official, but it certainly sounds like it could be by day's end. It's now just a matter of signing the actors to new deals and, according to one insider, finding a new soundstage to house the show's sets.

To say this would be a huge victory for crazy TV fans everywhere would be the understatement of the frakkin' millennium. "

Awesome news ... I just hope they wrap everything up if it is going to be a limited run.

According to Carol Barbee in the LA Times, it will start with 8 episodes and will be extended if ratings are successful.

More information will come out here starting at 9 Central: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/hostpage.aspx?show_id=26146

Now AP has moved a story.. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070606/ap_en_tv/tv_cbs_jericho;_ylt=ArF9Xaztrr1aUgE2NU__k4bMWM0F

What to send NBC? Massive amounts of prescription pain-killers? Unfunny sketch ideas (that will probably be forwarded to SNL)?

I wish Boomtown had gotten all this love.

But I'm VERY happy. This is further proof that the TV viewer can and should make a difference. Stand up to crappy reality and applaud well-done scripted programming!
