HBO Now app is free. Once you get app you sign up for subscription at cost of $14.50 monthly. Typically new subscribers get a month free. Fee is month to month month and easy to cancel. I'll renew when Curb comes on and then probably cancel once over

So we rented a cabin this past weekend and the cable didn't come with HBO. However, they had Roku, which included HBO Now. I'm an HBO subscriber via FIOS, which means I use HBO Go when I'm not at home. So I was screwed if I wanted to watch on the TV. We watched on the iPad, which was fine, but I'd much rather watch on the big screen.

Roku should have HBO Go and Now. Lame.

Not the one I was using. But yeah, I would have thought so, too.

The Roku is like any other device that runs apps. You need to download the app (if it exists for the device). If you have a Roku player, you can download the HBO Go app from their channel store. The app just wasn't on the device you were using.

Roger that. I'm a moron.

One thing clear is that there still is a bit of a learning curve for most to understand the workings of HBO Now and HBO Go. Likley made more complex than it needs to be to placate the cable companies who do not want to lose a cash cow in HBO subscriptions.

I have HBO Now and it's great

It is seriously confusing though. If you put a gun to my head and asked if I had HBO Now or HBO Go I wouldn't have known.
