And I see this time you've whacked 39 bodies. Just in time for Christmas. Niiiiiiiiice.

If there's any good news here... if you can call it that... no newsroom cuts this time around. (Yeah, because you lopped some good bodies the last time out.)

Not a good spiral -- lay off business folks who actually find $ for the operations, less $ coming in, gotta cut news folks. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Yeah, glad to see the newsroom spared, but this is never a good sign.

Some of us have advocated, during times when newsrooms are getting slashed, that the ad sales staffers who apparently aren't very successful be replaced by folks who might do better (and as a way of putting accountability for red ink where it belongs in many cases). But replacing is way different from shrinking. If the business jobs are lost, period, then it's self-defeating.
