Japanese workers are being set home early to spend time with their family and re-multiply. I have a little knowledge in this since it was my thesis topic, though Japan isn't seen as many problems as countries in Europe, who have negative population growth.

I just can't imagine a country asking people to have more kids in these economic times. I have friends who are having enough trouble getting by with one child, let alone 2 or more.

Strange that Japan would have this problem when China, IIRC, has had child quotas.

I hear about people working in this country for minimum wage and they have five or six or seven kids. Knowing what an absolute multi-faceted grind having two children is, I can't imagine how I'd get by with that many.

China’s policy is borne from the fact that when the did not have a population problem they were asked to multiply. Now, there are just too many people and they are asked to cease and desist.

Perhaps Japan should just outsource their baby making to China.

Or to the United States. Finally, a job outside of journalism for which I am fully qualified. ;) ;)

Despite not living in Japan, the Duggars complied with the directive...

The eldest Duggar got married on last night's episode.
The father of the bride explained how the ceremony was the transfer of "authority" over his daughter from him to new husband Jesus Bob.
These people are from Pluto.

How do they know what day to send people home. Do they benchmark the overall basil temperature of the country and on a day it rises send all employees home early.

Turk: [Singing] Hallelujah! A brotha's 'bout to have some sex! Ha Ha! Hallelujah! A brotha's 'bout to have some seeeeeeex!
[Steps in front of J.D. and bends over.]
Smack the money-maker! Smack it.

J.D. spits in his palm and smacks Turk on the rear.

J.D.: That's how he likes it.

Turk: [Leaving] Ahhh! Sex time, people!

J.D.: [To Paige] He's married, so it's strictly procreation sex. His wife's throwing her legs up in the air, because they're trying for a boy -- like Jesus!

Turk: [Singing] I'm gonna have some sex! I'm gonna have some seeeeeeeee-[disgusted]-eeaaaggghhh!

Carla: [Eying a thermometer] Okay, so my cervical mucus is peaking, my temperature is slightly elevated, and these pillows will keep my vagina angled so that the semen can pool against my cervix.

Turk: Baby, that is some god-awful dirty talk.

Carla: Turk, we're making a baby. Let's get down to business.

I keep bringing up this article I read a few years ago about Japan.

The men are depressed and addicted to online porn.

The women are living with each other and shopping for handbags.

Noboby's having much sex, was the gist of the article.

Are you sure that wasn't a thread here?

I blame sushi.

And rightly so. High levels of mercury (ie, found in raw fish) are a proven cause of infertility.
