The General Editor is a non-managerial job in the editorial operations for ESPN RecruitingNation (http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/). This role includes editing and posting content in a specific page, section or area of ESPN.com’s site. It's Bristol based.

Responsibilities
This role edits and posts daily coverage in the football and basketball recruiting sections of ESPN.com. This position requires a passion for and in-depth knowledge of the college football and basketball recruiting landscape related to high school sports, and the ESPN.com audience, with background in the content creation process. This person will also help coordinate and integrate relevant coverage with ESPN’s multiple entities, including but not limited to TV production, mobile, The Magazine and Insider.
The General Editor will work to expand and make coverage more comprehensive, using various platforms, including video, audio and interactivity. This editor will be responsible for ensuring that all content meets established tone, theme, accuracy, style and consistency requirements. Depending on specific coverage area, the job might include responsibility for the daily content and regular “refreshes” of an assigned recruiting page or other area of the ESPN.com site.
Basic Qualifications
* Minimum of 3 years of editorial and reporting experience
* Ability to follow and shape stories at various stages of development using various means of presentation
* Advanced news journalism experience and news judgment; understands assigned sport from a journalistic point of view
* Excellent English grammar and organizational skills
* Understanding of HTML and related web-authoring tools and software
* Familiarity with most major Internet search engines and fluency in electronic newsgathering techniques
* Knowledge of high school and college football and basketball, as well as athletes, coaches, league operations and the like
* Appreciation of popular culture, and understanding of the tastes of ESPN's audiences
Required Education
* Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred in journalism, communications or a related field
