Description:
Based in New Jersey, just 30 minutes from New York City, Youth1 Media, LLC. (Youth1.com) is the authority on youth sports. Focusing on athletes from the 6th-8th grade, we unite the passionate sports community through exclusive news, rankings and developing national lists of prospects to watch.
Youth1 Media, LLC. (Youth1.com) is looking to fill openings for two (2) football recruiting analysts to serve as the authority on the top youth football players in their region and beyond. The position will serve as the lead analyst for the region and assistant for National coverage. You will work remotely but will be in constant interaction with National Scouting Director.
Duties:
Become ingrained in the youth football community in your immediate region by building relationships with key coaches, organizations, players and parents via in-person and social media efforts
Attend numerous games, combines, camps and be able to identify top players. Then, be able to conduct interviews with them/obtain contact information. *Note: these will fall on weekend’s during the regular season and camp season*
Produce several pieces of content daily, while mapping out several weeks in advance. Be flexible enough to take on a major news story if it takes precedence
Take direction and collaborate with National Scouting Director to provide all appropriate elements for stores (i.e. photos, videos and graphics). Capture basic photos and video as needed while in the field.
Promote personal brand, the brands of colleagues and the Youth1 brand to increase Youth1 membership and traffic
Willingness to travel to larger national events as needed as part of the entire analyst team
Skills and Knowledge:
Ability to identify football talent and assess a player’s ability based off what you see, not what other people say. Athletes should be players who project to be elite level high school players and/or potential college athletes
Exceptional core journalism skills and strong knowledge of football terminology
Must be highly motivated and have the desire to become THE GUY in their region for youth football. This comes with the quality and quantity of content in addition to getting your face out there in the football community
Ability to react to changing the situations on the fly and being resourceful
Extraordinary social media skills are a must have (Instagram, facebook, twitter). A large majority of communication and fan engagement will be done on digital platforms in the public space
Effective communication and time management skills; work collaboratively within a cross-functional environment
Qualifications:
Bachelor's in Communication, Journalism or equivalent in experience and education.
1-3 years of covering prep sports and developing a personal brand and fan base.
Experience of covering camps or combines a big plus.
Knowledge of photoshop and Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
Must be eternally hungry for doing better and producing more.
