Not trying to quibble, I recall in REO's song something along the lines of Alfalfa being upset at Darla for some reason and saying "Hey Spanky let's for the He-Man Woman Haters Club."

You may be right (I didn't watch actual movies but did watch the Little Rascal reruns in the afternoons though in the early/mid 70's).

I honestly think the dude thought he was being funny. If what he said was just off the cuff, it could go down as poorly-executed humor or someone rambling trying to make a point.
But when it's taped and posted, you have ample opportunities to realize, "Maybe this isn't the best idea."
