How do you figure? Francona missed the playoffs two consecutive years with teams that shouldn't have missed the playoffs. He deserves to be unemployed by Boston

You got a link? Anything?

It's on twitter

Unfortunately, so is the link to this thread. Saw it on Twitter and wondered why no one else had the definitive story. Now I get it.

Rosenthal didn't say he was out. He said there was speculation that Francona was meeting with bosses today and could possibly be resigning.

Good luck with that whole journalism thing, Skip.

If he isn't on a flight to Chicago right now, then Kenny Williams should be fired before the sun comes up on the West Coast.

There's a meeting today.

That the team shouldn't have missed the playoffs is opinion. Competing in the AL East guarantees no one should feel secure about making the playoffs. Also, this year's team was basically in the playoffs with two outs and two strikes in the ninth inning of Game 162. A win in that one ensured the club of no less than an additional game in Tampa yesterday. Technically another regular season game, but in reality a playoff game.

So if Papelbon had done his job Francona would still have his. Therefore, this a Steinbrennarian reaction to that failure.

And if Francona had done his job the Sox wouldn't have been in the position of a do-or-die game 162

In what way did not doing his job cause John Lackey to post a 6.41 ERA, Tim Wakefield to win one of his last 11 starts, Jonathan Papelbon to blow two saves against Baltimore in the final eight days, Daniel Bard to melt down in September, Kevin Youkilis to suffer a season-ending injury, and Carl Crawford to post a sub-.300 OBP, and

You're right. The manager has NO control over who should play and who shouldn't (Lackey et al)

Did it ever occur to anybody I have legitimate sources in the Sox org that tell me he's gone?

How old are you? On the surface, I have figured that you are younger than skiptomylou1, but that's all I got.
