FWIW, tuition and fees for Ohio State (in-state) comes to $8.7K for next year, so UCLA is still cheaper, in that respect. Though, UCLA charges more for room and board.

I graduated from a small private school 20 years ago and at the time tuition was a little less than what it costs to go to Ohio State today. My alma mater now costs a cool $40,000 a year.

I'd be interested to know if public education costs have gone up that much by percentage over the same time.

So far, farthest back I've found for OSU was 1994, when it was just over $2,900
