Former Bristol Herald Courier SE sentenced

Just saw on the NBC station in the Tri-Cities where Jim Cnockaert was sentenced to three years in prison today. I feel badly for some guys in my former shop, but not for the guy who chose to hire him or the company which gave its blessing for this hire. What an embarrassing day for the BHC and Media General.

in good news at bristol... jim sacco replaced cnockaert a while ago. jim's a great guy and should quickly erase the stain of all the mess that went on there...

Edited to note dude isn't SE anymore. Jim Sacco is current SE and I can vouch that he hasn't been arrested (as of five minutes ago) for anything. Jim is guilty of a lot of **** but none of it illegal!

Well, he hasn't been CAUGHT doing anything illegal.

I used to work with Jim - used his computer, too, when he wasn't there, though I never saw anything improper. And, he is a nice person.

That said, Jim needs to man up and not keep insisting that he's innocent. He was fired from where we worked together because he was viewing porn on a work computer. He was caught again viewing porn at work, which led to this mess. It's easy to trace where somebody's been on a computer. How can you maintain you're innocent when you've left an electronic trail at more than one place?

I hope and pray that he gets the help he needs and can emerge from this as a better person. There's no doubt in my mind that he'll get the good behavior credit that's mentioned in the story. He just needs to face his problem and overcome it. It's up to him and no one else - not his wife (whom I also used to work with and also is a good person) or his daughters.

Jim has to man up. I hope and pray that he does.

That would be three, but George is/was the man. He was my first editor there and was quiet, yet professional. He also wrote a couple of books on minor league legends like Muscle Shoals and Ron Necciai. His book on Necciai's 27-strikeout game in 1952 is very good.

If the extent of one's activities is limited to merely viewing, I'm not sure one should be put in prison. There are plenty of people who actually DO things of a sexual nature and get less.

That being said, I wouldn't want to be the ***** who snitched on the guy, one way or the other.

"snitch[ing]"? on child porn? are you for serious? child porn is child porn. reprehensible. it wasn't one visit to a site where the 16-year-old girls look 18. it was child porn, hundreds of images. yet you're saying someone shouldn't have snitched?

There is never any justification for viewing child porn, and I'm saying that as someone who worked with Jim Cnockaert and thought very highly of him. He always treated me well.

Not everybody is a perfect person in this world. I mean, everyone does ... kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me.

Why did the article list Bristol as his place of residence when the judge and everything else was in Montana?
Did the paper do the article because of the Bristol connection or because he was a former employee?
Does this mean if I ever get in trouble, one of my former shops will write an article about me?
This whole thing smells.
