Story says filming was going on at the time but officials couldn't say more.

Trivia note: L.A. County Fire Department's Station 51 (a real working fire station with Engine 51, Squad 51 and Patrol 51) is on the Universal lot in Universal City.

I live about three miles east from the fire.

I was woken up by helicopters buzzing this morning. Lots of 'em-media and firefighers. According to what I read, the water pressure isn't strong enough for firefighters' needs, so they're having to pull off of two nearby lakes/water reservoirs.

Doesn't exactly smell great over here.

Universal's New York and New England sets, Courthouse Square, the King Kong stage, at least one soundstage and a video vault have been destroyed by a fire that began on the backlot about 4:45 am this morning.

Courthouse Square featured prominently in the "Back to the Future" films. The King Kong exhibit was also a stop on the popular studio tour.
