Ran across this the other day. Good story about Farley's addiction.
The guy Farley named the character after is a friend of mine. I know him as Chaplain Matt Foley. He's out of the Army now, but he was my battalion's chaplain from 11-13. We deployed to Afghanistan together. He was Farley's best friend since college and preached his funeral. Farley named the character after him before he went to SNL.

CH Foley had some GREAT Farley stories, as you'd imagine. He'd always tell a Farley story that you'd expect to hear, but then follow it up with a story about how kind and gentle and giving he was
