Excel help

I know I learned this at some point in the past, so feel free to mock me.

In Excel, how to do you keep things (such as team records) from being converted to dates? I want 1-1 to stay 1-1 and not become 1-Jan.

Help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Right Click, choose Format, and set the cells to be nothing but Text (should be an option on the left).

I'm doing that from memory, so hopefully it's close enough to exact.

Or he could just have wins and losses in separate columns and avoid the problem altogether.... unless of course he needs the entire record in one cell.

Record did just need one cell, so I took Eagleboy's help and got it going. Thanks!
