Seems ESPN doesn't have a problem throwing stones at Kelly Tilghman (deserved) but you can bet there's no Outside the Lines episode on Dana Jacobson's hate speech. Makes it real tough not to see the hypocritical nature of the WWL

Makes you wonder... Tirico got suspended for three months for harassment. If another anchor at the time had tried this same thing would he have been fired?

If you look at the other thread, a statement that is remarkably offensive (made by an idiot swilling vodka) was compared to the comedy of Sarah Silverman. Shortly thereafter, we get the "Jeebus" references, the priests-are-pedophiles shots, and the "what's the big deal" crowd.

Media watchdogs focus on nothing useful. Ever. Yet. Does Poynter ever get really pissed off? Or does it just gently point, and let the course of business continue?

Miller was arrested for urinating in public at a nightclub. He also faced a bogus drug charge because the police found a toothpick in in pack of cigarettes. The drug "paraphernalia" charge was dropped.

I'm tired of hearing that neo politically correct term. She made "drunk fool of one's self speech."

If you are in line at the store and tell someone "Get out of my way (insert derogatory name)" - then that's hate speech. If you make an ass out of yourself, then that's what it is, making an ass out of yourself. It doesn't mean you've got some hidden hate or agenda.

Why in this day and age do people have to be fired/punished/etc. because they ****ed up? That's all Jacobson did. That's all Tilghman did. They ****ed up. They said something they thought was cute or funny that wasn't.

They've both taken their lumps. They've admitted they've ****ed up. MOVE ON PEOPLE.

Depends on which part of the parallel SportsJournalists.com universe you are logged in to.

There's the underpaid-and-whining-about-the-price-of-gas universe . . . and there's the the HDTV-Vegas, baby!-Ruth's Chris universe . . . the universe where "**** Jesus" is fine and dandy ("It's a roast, people!") and the universe where "**** Jews" or "**** fags" would demand termination.

Hard to keep track, since the switch from one to another is pretty seamless.
