Great piece. I don't know Amy, but I've really become a recent fan of her work.

Great read. More convinced that Joyce would have been the right choice for SI Sportsmen of The Year.

I'm in total agreement with this, but I think it should have been he and Galaraga. Have someone who speaks Spanish interview Galaraga at length, translate it, give it to Posnanski, have Pos interview Joyce at length, and then have him spin together a story about sportsmanship.

I liked Layden's story about Brees a lot, but mostly because I really like Layden. But SI could have really gotten it right with Galaraga and Joyce together.

Amy seems to travel below the radar in Bristol land. I usually only come across her when her work is posted on here.

She is a very talented writer. Also pretty good on tv when she has been on.

Great piece. I was in the umpires' room that night, and it is the most emotional interview of my career. Joyce was so devastated and so willing to throw himself on his sword, that I think we only asked three or four questions. I remember the first was "Have you seen the replay?" - he talked for several minutes without interruption after that.

I was thinking about it. There are situations where a name might pop out at you. It is more likely that it happened at the ticket counter.
