Whenever I read an article about some player who somehow ends up in some place through a circuitous route, courtesy of some assistant coach at some prep academy who allows the player to live with him.

Basketball is corrupt.

Guys like this coach want to be a father figure to really good players who can pull them up the coaching ladder. But if the player turns out to be mediocre and really needs a father figure in a tome of need coaches like this guy are now here to be found.
