I read the story, including the sentences in question, and didn't pause, didn't scratch my head, didn't wonder what she meant. Good story. Thanks for sharing it.
is this board also about being mean just for the sake of being mean?

Please, fans, explain those last two sentences. If she dabs her raw eyes it will open up questions? Will we need a Band-Aid lest they fall on the floor?
I sprained my ankle on the syntax in the second.

Yet amid all the banter about it, I don't think anyone offered a concrete suggestion on how they would have edited the sentence. Truly, I'm curious how people would have salvaged the content of the sentence and smoothed over the alleged syntax faux pas.
