Somebody on her staff ought to get fired over that, assuming she didn't go off the note cards for that one.

It not like gaffes like that don't run in the family ...

Well, you don't really think of writing on the note cards "WIFE HAS BEEN DEAD TWO YEARS DON'T ASK ABOUT WIFE".

Though maybe if you're on her staff you should learn to prepare for anything.

No, actually I don't think it would be unreasonable at all to write that down for any on-air interviewer. Much better than saying, in midst of all the chaos that likely goes on pre-show, "don't ask about his wife." Really, really easy to miss that "don't" when you're only half-listening.

If it was a recent death, maybe. But two years ago? How much hand-holding does Kathie Lee really need?

OK, maybe that's a dumb question.

Bear in mind that she probably was on her 4th glass of wine by that point.

Sounds like a Jiminy Glick question.

Nice reference.

Great pull. And, really, it actually does.

I remember several years ago in the letters section of Parade magazine, someone wrote in and said something to the effect of "I saw Martin Short on TV the other day and he had gained a tremendous amount of weight. How could he have let himself go like that?"

I remember that. It was hilarious.

Who likes her? Does anyone here know of another person who actually enjoys Kathie Lee?

I don't like her, but the beast that is Rosie O'Donnell is much worse.

I didn't know she was on TV. Ever since they quit advertising her show with the leprechaun, I never heard her name anymore.
