This is a sad one to view. Hopefully, he'll be able to learn from this.

I don't know. it doesn't sound like a particularly tough question. Do you confront an ex-girlfriend in the lobby of her apartment building, repeatedly kicking and punching her or you let whatever's been bugging you slide?

I know it's a cliche but maybe he'll have a chance to learn from an abusive boyfriend of his own in years to come.

Enjoyed that video. Nothing wrong with seeing a notably large man, who would assault a woman, cry a bit.

I particularly enjoyed the first sentence of that blog:

"Instead of sifting through scholarship offers, selecting a school and launching his college basketball career as he originally planned, an Ohio high school standout will have to put his dreams on hold."

Awwwwwww, poor thing.

That's if any school will have him on their teams, although I could see someone "taking a chance so he can rebuild his life."

Can't stop watching this thing.

Love how he goes from "OK, I'm listening to the judge, hoping and thinking I won't get anything too bad" to "What!??! I got three years!!??!!?" to "OK . . . three plus two is five . . ." to "Three plus two plus two is . . . oh SH--!!!!!!!! Uuuugggghhhhhhhh.. . . . . . . . ."

Those on-the-spot math skills would have served him well at a Big Ten school.

Really. This is why people rip "the liberal media."

Not only is it a cliche, it's also a cliched rape joke! And rape jokes are always funny!

That video will not serve him well in jail. He might be big, but he's going to be someone's *****.

That reminds me of that scene in "Malcolm X" where Malcolm and Shorty are handcuffed together as the judge read off a bunch of counts of 7-14 year sentences that are going to be served concurrently. Then Shorty passes out because he doesn't know what "concurrently" meant.

Sorry, but I have little sympathy for anyone who thinks it's OK to lay their hands on a woman. In an aside, the California Penal RPI joke was a funny one. +1 on that.

Not sure how I feel about Tony Farmer. v-e-r-y sad plight-but he dragged his girlfriend by her hair, etc

I hate what he did. And I hate that he apparently doesn't get the seriousness of what he did.

Yet I also wonder if he had some incompetent representation, because I'm betting a decent lawyer would have gotten him a deal as good as Mariotti's, especially considering he pleaded out.

It would also be helpful to know if he had a history of trouble.

Me. Lawyer ****ed me. Everybody's innocent in here. Didn't you know that?

3 years is harsh but man what he did was wrong.

Why are their sympathies here? Because a big guy can put a ball through the hoop. I'd have more sympathy if he was a dedicated student who was looking at academic scholarships. Society needs to reverse itself and quit giving athletes differential treatment. If it had been a 6'10" 7-11 clerk would this even be news? No. He plead guilty to a felony assault.

Let he without sin cast the first stone. Yeah, what he did was wrong. Is the punishment too harsh? Probably.

Putting people in prison right and left is not, IMO, the solution to society's ills. I hope this young man comes out a better man and not just a smarter criminal. And that society is not going to hold it over his head for the rest of his life.

The entire courtroom scene is depressing and hard to watch because Farmer had such a bright future prior to this incident.

Yeah, that's why it's hard to watch. ::)
