Woman dies after spending 16 years in a vegetative state the result of a domestic violence incident.
Thankfully, her son of a ***** husband is still in jail.

Rusty Marks did a great job with the opening of this story.
The obituary says Sonya Dawn Bailey died on Dec. 19 at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston.
"Sonya was a very outgoing and compassionate person until injuries received during a domestic violence event changed the focus of her life," the obituary reads.
It doesn't explain how, after an argument in November 1994, her husband Christopher beat her in the head, and then dumped her into the trunk of her own car and drove around for five days, trying to figure out what to do.
It doesn't go into detail about how, when he finally took her to a hospital in Kentucky, Sonya was near death, or how the beating left her in a vegetative state. It doesn't describe how she spent the past 15 years in a nursing home, as her mother, sister and daughter clung to her memory.
Sonya Dawn Bailey died on Dec. 19, 2010 at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, a victim of domestic violence. She was 49.
