If I've ever seen one, this line of argument has become one.

Heck...let's go for 45.

And here's a question I'd like to ask, even though someone's religious affiliation doesn't matter much to me....

Anyone who is Jewish on this board: What's your take on this? Do you feel Obama has a "jewish problem"? If you object to Obama, is it because of this or for other reasons? Seriously.

The New Republic delved into this a couple weeks ago...interesting story worth reading if you're going to join in the debate.

(And coffeeman...love the dancing lock, but will never understand why a public message board requires such restraints.)

Can some on this thread read through this link and say that religion isn't a large part of the issue? I'm betting on you, Al.

Just replace me with the person that posted it and Al would bleed condescending blood.

Good article, and some "interesting" comments by readers, as well.

Thanks for posting that, 21. I wish it was a little more up-to-date. The survey mentioned in the article was done in November. I wonder if those numbers have changed, especially since the article itself was written before the Super Tuesday showdown.

What I'm reading from some of you is more anti-Obama than it is any sort of upholding of the claims made in the original article. And the fact that the letter, signed by many key Jewish leaders, posted by Zeke, seems to indicate that not everyone feels as the writer for the JP did.

I don't see any overlap between the column and the letters. I bet that the column's writer would have signed the letter, and have no idea what any of the signatories think about the contents of the column.

That's a supposition there, and a might leap at that. You have NO idea how anyone involved in that truly feels, other than the opinion writer. And to make the claim that the opinion writer would have signed that letter is sheer foolishness.

Ignoring all of the posts in between that I didn't read, foolishness? The letter said nothing, it just denounced something that almost anyone would denounce. Nothing in the column implied that he's a psycho. Is that the foolishness part?

Yawn, I wasn't blaming Alley for this thread taking an ugly turn, though he and I often disagree on this board. He still manages to remain civil, something you fail to do.

He asked you a legitimate question and you are the one who responded with a condescending tone rather than just speaking what was on your mind.

And for the record, I strongly disagree with your position, which I take to be that any person of true Jewish or Christian faith must believe in this country supporting Israel. There are issues beyond faith that have to be taken into account in the running of the United States, though I understand you are incapable of looking at it that way.

You, like him, prove your ignorance about the post. It is one position out there that is pretty damn strong. The issue with Israel is largely based on a religious feud that has dated centuries. So take your here-and-now approach to life and, well, it ain't worth the time to explain history to dweebs.

And once again you prove that everything is about religion with you, that you are absolutely incapable of seeing any other concerns. And that is why your political opinion is completely useless, because there are other factors that matter.

But really, there is a religious feud that has something to do with the issues in the Middle East, particularly with Israel. Well, aren't we lucky to have you to tell us about these things?

What's next? You going to explain to us that Christians believe that this guy named Jesus Christ was the savior and the son of G-d? Because I think a few of us are confused about Christianity. Not that I'd trust you to explain it.

Grow up.

That's absolutely priceless from somebody who accuses other posters of condescending attitudes. I'm surprised you don't like Obama for having a possible connection to Farrakhan. Farrakhan's views on homosexuality seem to fit right in with yours.

On this thread, a person's religious affiliation does matter, at least if the person happens to be Jewish. I don't object to Obama, but this issue does give me some concerns. As I wrote above, I'd love to hear clearer answers from him on the subject.

And Yawn, nobody said religion wasn't a part of the issue, just that there are other parts to it as well. That's what you constantly ignore. Everything is not about religion, no matter what you would like to believe. You can't see part your own personal faith to even try to understand those who disagree with you. Then you insist that they only disagree because they don't understand you.

In other words, you are not only insanely closed-minded, but a hypocrite as well.

I can't answer it for you, Alley, because you can't relate to the answer because you can't relate or understand the position of most fundamentalist Christians. Go to johnhagee.com and do some reading. You want answers, find them.

I put my comments out there not as a particular endorsement but as a point of discussion. You immediately played you know-it-all, read-everyone's mind card. I'm not arguing nor discussing this with a condescending twit.

I was going to stay out of it, but, really, JOHN HAGEE?
So, yawn, you're one of those fringe Christians -- by any reasonable standard, including raw demographic numbers -- who believe that we should support Israel because all the Jewish people need to be there before Jesus can come back and slay the forces of the Antichrist?
Give up, alley. This is Christianity as pre-medieval mystery cult.

That's the deal . . . and we're all supposed to go broke supporting all this, 'till the end of time.

Forward the bills to Mssrs. Wolfowitz and Pearle, and all those who love those guys so very, very much . . . please.

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Yawn.

I haven't brought up the H word in some time, but it figures a childish asshole like you would.
