Everything is bigger in Texas, and nothing is as big as high school sports.

The Dallas Morning News has an opening for a high school sports digital producer. This editor's primary job will be to run the SportsDayHS digital components -- including real-time football scoring and our expansive database. The editor will be responsible for promoting content and curating the website under the direction of the high school sports editor.

Key job functions:

-- Collect, maintain and coordinate rosters, statistics and schedules for hundreds of high school teams and numerous sports.

-- Oversee and institute multimedia projects, including photos and video.

-- Analyze traffic patterns, research new technology and incorporate new ideas for our digital coverage of Dallas-area high school sports.

-- Reporting, feature writing and aggregating during non-football season.

-- Update digital high school sports platforms. That includes editing/writing headlines, blogs, stories, photos, etc.

-- Plan the next "big thing" in our coverage of Dallas-area high school sports.

-- Enhance social media efforts. Grow our reach on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other platforms.

Hours:

-- Day-to-day responsibilities of the job change during the year. Some months, the job will require work during normal business hours. In other months, the job will require working nights and Saturdays. Hours and duties can be matched to the skills of the editor hired.

Key attributes of a candidate include:

-- Strong grasp of statistical content and data entry.

-- Strong communication, organizational and time-management skills.

-- A determination and drive to compile and correct every fact, roster, stat, schedule.

-- Ability to oversee and organize large groups of part-time clerks and freelancers to maximize content production and reach.

-- Good news judgment, grammatical precision, a flair for headlines, energy, curiosity and an appreciation for providing the best local high school coverage with impact and excitement.

-- Versatility and quickness both as a journalist and as a digital producer. Someone who can post a story or statistics within seconds without much of a safety net.

-- Experience in Web design, multimedia and social media.

-- Experience in reporting sports news, preferably high school sports.

It says in the Journalism Jobs posting that this is a part-time position. Doesn't say how many hours per week though.

I inquired about that, and it looks like there might be two openings. Either that or JJ's not right. The Belo site lists this job as full-time. (Shrugs)

This is a full-time job -- someone made a mistake on the journalismjobs.com posting. That should be fixed this morning.

It is a 40-hour/week position.
