Well, I'll put my neck out there. Discuss. Pages 6-7 of 11 SB pages.

I like these for the most part, but I don't like the black bars with the score and logo at the top. The bars may have looked all right without the logos, but the logo looks a little weird with the light colors on a dark background. Maybe go without the logos or use a different color for the bar and score type.

Other than that, I like the idea. Considering how bad Pittsburgh looked in the first half, it's cool to show quarter-by-quarter stats and highlights to compare how the game changed.

That's a damn good point. Thanks. We normally have white-on-red color "subject" bars on each page, and did these just for the game. We very well may have overdid it.

Shotglass, I think the content on there is really cool. The stats (a step beyond what some papers would do), and the scores add a lot of nice info. You picked the right photos, they're cropped well and I love the symmetry. It ends up having lots of impact in your tabloid format.

I would agree that the color use is a little much (between all the reverse-out black throughout and the sand-colored screens behind everything), and detracts from your nice art choices.

But overall, it's a fine example of breathing some life into the same ol' quarter-by-quarter thing.

You know, an Eggo sounds awfully good. But I don't have any syrup with me right now.

I think in junior high, I used to eat them dry. Our toaster didn't do them justice, though. The edges were burned, and the middle was frozen.

Nobody snickered along with you. The consensus is that the statement didn't contribute anything.

In other words, what's your problem? If you could explain it, we might understand your viewpoint.

To reiterate ... not laughing. Pitying. Trying to understand what makes something like you tick. But not laughing.

It speaks for itself. Isn't it all about content? I mean, that's what designers say.

This is not earth-shattering content. It's play summaries. Is that not a basic part of telling the story?

I guess I'd ask why people have such a problem grasping that, or realizing that not every page is headed for the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art.
