I want to be the lawyer who gets to represent the bars.

I haven't heard but has Daley also insisted that meth dealers around Comiskey cut off sales there too?

They're grandfathered in.

If the Cubs winning the World Series brings a repeat of what happened in the aftermath of the Red Sox' win in 2004, I'm all for them going another 100 years without a title.

As if Cubs fans aren't arrogant and obnoxious enough

Since New York fans are paragons of humility. Duly noted.

Touche. The only difference is what do Cubs fans (notice I didn't say Chicago) have to be arrogant about? The overrated stadium?

Jeez. It's an extreme stretch to knock the ballpark.

To knock the ballpark/neighborhood combination is insanity.
The quality of that situation's unique in MLB. I have serious
concerns about the safety of that ancient edifice, but I'm a Sox fan, and Wrigley Field's the nuts.

Loved the neighborhood. Maybe my hopes were too high.

Trust me -- there are hosts of Wrigleyville residents that don't like the crowds and noise, when it's at its worst.

That said . . . Chicago's version of Little **** is 'WAY out of line.

He can jawbone the issue all he wants . . . but mouthing empty threats makes him as pathetic as Daddy, at his worst.

Cubbies get another SI cover. And a Gary Smith story.

And there's the proof that the Cubs are doomed:

Cowboys (lower left) might be in trouble because of this, too.

The GreatGrandpa called and said he just saw four people hurl themselves from the Skydeck of the Sears Tower after seeing this cover.

He has thoughts of joining them.

I have nothing to add. Just wanted to shamelessly bump this up.

Re: The 100th Annual Cubs Watch Thread

I can't wait to hear the whining when Manny beats the crap out of the cubbies in the first round.

101-year loosers!

Unbelievable. The bars? We're talking closing the whole ****ing bars?

What has happened to us? Are we that far removed from the days when men would stroll back to the office after 3 martini lunches? And then stop at the local pub on the way home from work?
I weep for what we have become.

They're goddamned bars. They're supposed to serve liquor.

Re: The 100th Annual Cubs Watch Thread

Oh, and re: the Cubs.

Have they considered doing a World Series Shuffle song/video?

Worked out ok for da Bearrssss.

You can delete this thread now.

I think we're going to need it.

Even the wind hates us.

Re: The 100th Annual Cubs Watch Thread

Gary Smith's party might not make it past the weekend.

Re: The 100th Annual Cubs Watch Thread

This is all Gary Smith's fault.
