Content Editor Full-Time, Halifax Nova Scotia

SportsDirect Inc. is a leading online media company who provides sports content that serves marketers, publishers, and consumers worldwide. We are currently searching for a full time Content Editor to add to our successful team here in our Halifax, Nova Scotia office.

The Content Editor will oversee our new previews and recaps section of our Editorial department which will cover the four major pro sports and college football and basketball. Key responsibilities will include:

• Establishing and maintaining a freelance network of content producers
• Scheduling of assignments and editing shifts
• Editing content
• Giving critical feedback to editors and writers as needed
• Ensuring deadlines and customer needs are met
• Working with senior editor to establish content strategies

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum five years of journalism experience, preferably some with editing
• Excellent spelling and grammar skills
• Excellent knowledge of CP or AP style
• Solid general knowledge of the Internet and ability to surf the web with comfort
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays

I know nothing of this job, or this company, but I LOVED Halifax when I went there for a week several years ago. Great bars, really nice city, I did the whole thing without a car. It's very much a walking city. I'm jealous of whomever gets this job, just for being able to live in Halifax.
