It's really sad to think a city as large as Cinci couldn't support two papers.

Maybe not. But on the last day, does it matter? Can the last day be about ourselves as journalists?
I like the front. But, I have to ask, do you think many non-journos "got it."
I don't.

I'm wondering - when exactly was the Enquirer good (especially its sports section)? I first saw it in 1993 and it sucked then.
And worse - now it has no competitor to make it strive to do better (not that it did too much good when there were two papers).

I loved it. Not only did Tom Consolo do that, he also led a string quartet after putting out the last edition. They not only did Auld Lang Syne, as well as an unearthed Cincinnati Post March from the 50s, I think.
It was an odd day, that's for sure. But can't say it was unexpected.
While waiting to fill out my final paperwork, some lady came in and asked, "I was told to come in here, I was trying to buy a Cincinnati Post?" My response was, "Where have you been the last 10 years?"
Once again, Gannett didn't live up to their promises in the JOA -- we didn't even get our 6 each of the Cincinnati edition. Bastards.
