Ladies and gentlemen, our new Secretary of Education.

Pretty sure the only people who watch Dr. Phil are the mothers of people who watch First Take and Undisputed.

Is there anything sillier than white, suburban kids talking and acting ghetto?

Assuming that the segment isn't staged - and that's a huge assumption, I think - I feel very bad for the girl at the center of it. She's 13 years old, right? And now she's a national laughingstock, on top of obviously having some very serious issues facing her.

I almost never see anything "viral," but my brother does (and is always shocked that I haven't), and he and his wife were all a-twitter about this when I saw them this weekend. Thought it was the funniest thing they had seen in some time.

I think that Dr. Phil and Maury and the rest of them should be more than a little ashamed of themselves for parading these kids on national TV. My kid can be a huge pain in the ass, like all kids. But I couldn't imagine the risk of damage of putting him out there like this, so people could make him a national piñata.

OK, earnest post completed. You guys can make fun of me now.

I'd estimate the likelihood that the kid was in on it at about, oh, 99.999999999 percent.

There's a kind of person in this world who, given this choice -- A) being noticed because you did something stupid vs. B) not being noticed because you didn't do something stupid -- won't blink an eye at choosing A. Because, to this kind of person, not being noticed is simply not an option.

And without those people reality TV would cease to exist. I'm always amazed that people will air their filthiest linen in public if it means they get to be on TV.

C) Don't want to end up as a sad and invisible 75-year-old man like the one in 12 Angry Men who testifies the way he does because it's the only time other than birth and death that he'll've been recorded in history.

Yep.

Meanwhile, it is my worst nightmare to get noticed doing something and have it go "viral."

Birth, marriage, death. The only three times a gentleman should be mentioned in the paper. Or on twitter.
