Driver didn't know cat had been tied to car, humane society says

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. -- Niagara humane society investigators are looking into a gruesome case of animal abuse.
A young cat died Wednesday after being dragged for several kilometres behind a car in Niagara-on-the-Lake by an unsuspecting driver.
Investigators believe the driver had no idea that someone else had tied the cat to the rear of the car.
The previous week, a three-month-old kitten was thrown off a fifth-storey balcony of an apartment in St. Catharines and then deliberately run over with a car.
A 31-year-old St. Catharines man faces several charges in that incident.
