They couldn't wait until after Christmas?

Is Scott Skiles jewish? At least they waited until after the holiday then ...

Jerry Reinsdorf can expect the first of the Spirits when the clock strikes one.

Didn't they do the exact same thing with Tim Floyd a few years ago?

Sorry, I've erased the Tim Floyd era from my memory.

He gets paid a lot of money for a while to do nothing.
I'd say that's a good Christmas present.

My-way-or-the-highway coaches cannot win in the NBA.

Period.

The players have too much power to take **** from coaches for very long.

The only way an NBA coach can be successful is to get the players on his side. Ass kissing and mollycoddling is usually necessary.

If you have napoleonic power complexes, the NBA is not the place to indulge them.

Or figured it out before the season started ...

I think this was a bad move. A coach can't make chicken salad out of chicken s***. I think he's a good coach.

Wasn't Tim Floyd fired on Christmas or close to it?

I can remember Krause saying,

"Wipe that smile off your face Mr. Mariotti..."

For what it's worth, NBA people I know say it was actually done yesterday morning or possibly after Saturday night's game. The Bulls look at the timing of the announcement as a courtesy to Skiles, thinking people will leave him alone on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Anybody have Skiles before Thomas in the first-to-be-fired pool?

I'm actually not that surprised. I won't be stunned if Thomas lasts the season...

That's Skiles' reputation, but the general opinion in Chicago was that he went too much the other direction - trusting guys like Gordon and Ben Wallace for too long in certain situations, especially defensively, based on what they had delivered in the past.

I think Skiles has grown since those days in Phoenix. Maybe too much.

That all being said, this is Paxson's mess. It's a very unbalanced team, and he's held onto assets like Gordon, Deng and Hinrich too long without making a move. This reminds me of Hendry's situation with the Cubs when he shuttled Dusty - this next hire is Paxson's last straw. Because he's next.

Wait a minute. Isn't this the same team that everybody loved going into the season? It was supposed to be full of all this young talent, a conference finals contender, etc. All of a sudden it's an unbalanced roster and Paxson's in trouble?

The Floyd presser was the one where Krause used the word "bull****" when addressing Marriotti. We carried it live nationwide on the station I used to work for in Canada.

We were flooded with complaints.

Krause is a moron, but anyone who uses the word "bull****" when addressing Mariotti has something going for him.
