The Brownsville Herald, a daily newspaper owned by AIM Media Texas, seeks an energetic and organized sports editor for a paper in the state's Rio Grande Valley region.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, well-versed in page design, understands the value of community journalism, embraces social media and can bring fresh ideas to the table. They will lead a staff of two full-time reporters and one part-time reporter. Candidates should have experience in the journalism field.
The Herald's Metro area, which includes Brownsville, Los Fresnos and Port Isabel, loves its sports, mainly of the high school, soccer and boxing varieties. High school sports are covered extensively, and the Herald -- along with the sports departments of the Valley Morning Star (Harlingen) and The Monitor (McAllen) -- contributes to RGVSports.com, our high school sports website. The three sports staffs also assist in the production of RGVSports.com The Magazine, a quarterly publication.
