If a girl can play football or wrestle, why not?

Because boys have a penis and girls have a vagina

Not good enough. The knife cuts both ways.

On its website, the Women's Sports Foundation argues that girls should be able to break down gender barriers, while boys really have no barriers to break.

"Because sport participation opportunities for girls have been historically limited, girls have a right to participate on boys' teams if there is no girls' team (or a team which plays by the same rules) in the same sport," according to the organization's position statements. "Since the opportunities for boys have not been historically limited, boys do not have these same rights. While some state courts have found, and there are those that argue, that such a position violates the individual rights of boys, federal courts have found that protecting the participation rights of girls as a previously discriminated against 'class' outweigh the rights of the 'individual' boy."

In other words, everyone is equal. Some are just more equal than others.

Uncomfortable imagery considering the subject matter.

Ouch.

Especially during those pesky circumcisions.

Ok, I'm too lazy to read the story, but this is not a new thing. It has happened in other sports as well.

No, boys haven't faced the same limitations as girls in the past, but good luck figuring out a legal way to keep guys off the field when the only team available is for girls.

I was covering a tournament game involving the team that eliminated Saugus. When the game was over, and somebody said that winning team was playing Saugus next, somebody said that the boy was the league's MVP and one of the officials said "That's all you need to know about whether or not he should be playing."
So if he sucked nobody would have had a problem with him playing, I guess.
Girls can play football and wrestle because they're not likely to be impact players on their teams. Boys can't play field hockey because they're likely to take over the game.
If that argument is not a bunch of hypocritcal crap, I don't know what is.

He should be mocked mercilessly not because he's playing a girl's sport but because field hockey sucks at a level that is incomprehensible to mere mortals.

Seriously, I ran cross country and track so I know what I'm talking about when it comes to competing in easily mocked sports. And I'd mock this guy daily on general principle.

Does he wear a skirt? That would invite enough mocking for a lifetime.

The teeny-penis brigade is out in force, cheering on a mighty manly man who dares to slap women around at their own game.

If I were an opposing coach, I'd tell my team to make sure he didn't make it to halftime. Then, he could go join the girls' glee club to sing soprano for the Holiday Concert.

As far as all the emotionally-vulnerable boys being victimized by the evil girls playing football and wrestling, the solution is simple: Beat them. Kick their asses. If you can do it, whoopee for you. If not, then STFU for you.

And, dude, the answer to the girls is the same. Stop him. Or STFU.

What's the big deal about a boy playing field hockey?
One or two teams in Pennsylvania's District 1 had a boy on their teams 6-7 years ago.

The big deal in this case (or at least what some people think is the big deal) is that the kid was the league's MVP.

Imagine the reaction if a football coach told his boys to make sure that girl playing for the other team doesn't make it to halftime. He'd be fired and either up on charges or the subject of a lawsuit.

This stuff all works both ways.

Really? I think runners are hot.

But we'd never work out, BYH, I'm the only person on the planet who looks forward to watching/covering field hockey.

It's okay that a boy plays field hockey. Hell, maybe in a couple years there will be men's field hockey. There is in the Olympics.

One of the best quotes I didn't use was in a feature about a field hockey player, one of the sweetest and best-looking female athletes I ever interviewed. It was 20 years ago, so I don't remember it verbatim, but it went something like this.

Q: Field hockey looks really rough. What's the worst thing you've seen or heard during a game?
A: Well, there was this time I hit this girl from (some other team) in the ankle with my stick, and I heard her ankle break. (Pause.) I wish I could say it was an accident.
