EAST PEORIA, Ill. — Former NFL player Bill Maas was arrested late Friday after police found a handgun, suspected cocaine, Ecstasy and marijuana in his vehicle during a roadside safety check.
Maas, 45, of Lees Summit, Mo., was driving north with passenger Sarah J. Murphy, 27, also of Lees Summit, on Illinois Route 116 when his 2005 Hummer was stopped at an Illinois State Police Department roadside check at Highview Road.

I someone suspect when he got into the vehicle with the drugs and woman 18 years his junior, this was not how he figured the night would end.
Oh well.

Did Bill Maas leave all the casinos in KC for a road trip to the ****ty little Par-A-Dice?

Big Al's is in downtown Peoria, but to get to Peoria from I-74 East -- which takes you to 55, which takes you to St. Louis -- you have to go through EP. Assuming he was coming from Missouri.

He could have been on his way to church :D

That sucks, I always thought he was one of the better football announcers in the game. (ie the least annoying)

I've driven through East Peoria many times and I'd loved to have had some Ecstasy, marijuana and suspected cocaine to get me through it. Some suspected quaaludes and some suspected LCD might not be bad either. Can't have too many narcotics to get through that drive. And that goes for West, South, North and Central Peoria too. Man that town is boring.

I'd save the handgun for driving anywhere west of Peoria inside the state of Illinois. I'd probably be eating it in a nice picnic astride the Spoon River when the boredom reached a Heart Of Darkness-like fever pitch.

Sure, I agree, if "least annoying" = Carrot Top grudge-****ing a hippopotamus on your hungover forehead at 7 a.m. accompanied by a brass bonanza playing the hits of Streisand.

They pulled him out of the rotation the last half of the '06 season anyway, so he might already have technically been canned.
