Ross Siler and Janny Hu are up-and-comers. Phil Miller is always solid.

Marc is a good guy but he couldn't carry Phil Jasner's notebook or Marty McNeal of Sacramento or Johnny Ludden of San Antonio. In time he may reach their level but he's not quite there yet.

Are you serious, Boots? Frank has covered the Knicks for at least 10 years. He's covering a bizarre team in the most competitive city in America.

Isola is a great beat guy. He's one of those people who could cover any sport and you'd never know he didn't have 10 years on the beat.

I like D'Alessandro from Newark, just personal preference. Lots of good hoops writers out there.

Any day now, I expect the Bulls to trade Luol Deng and Ben Gordon for some combination of Shaq, Kobe and Kevin Garnett.

Any day now, I expect the Bulls to trade Luol Deng and Ben Gordon for some combination of Shaq, Kobe and Kevin Garnett.

So funny, yet so true. Sam's been pushing for a Garnett trade for years, even when Chicago had nothing to offer except draft picks and Benny the Bull.

I like the Bulls beat writer for the Tribune, K.C. Johnson. His game stories and reader Q-and-A segments (Web only) are usually enjoyable reads.

I spoke with a former NBA player the other night who spent a couple years on the Nets back in the late 90s. He said Dave D's nickname among the players was Booger.

That wasn't his nickname in the business, too, I hope...
