Some beauties:
U2, Paradise, Boston, '83 (including stuff they probably haven't played since)
Elvis Costello, Toronto, '78 (with guest shot from Nick Lowe)
Replacements, final show, July 4, 1991 in Chicago (sloppy but fun. For the record, the final song was "Hootananny," with the roadies replacing band members on stage one by one).
Cramps, somewhere in Switzerland, '86 (if you've ever heard Lux take apart "Lonesome Town"...)

My favorite actual bootleg is Elvis Costello "Riot Act 83," recorded in London on the tour for "Punch The Clock" when he had a horn section and backup singers (Afrodisiac, who sang backup for every British band at some point in the early 80s).

I've got a ton of live shows I've downloaded from the net, so they aren't true bootlegs.  The best may be a Joe Jackson show where he does covers of "You Can't Be Too Strong" by Graham Parker (one of my favorite songs, and JJ's cover is better than the original) and "Reelin' In The Years" by Steely Dan.

Wilco, a double disk from a 2002 Portland show. The timeline chick sent it to me in exchange for a set list I had grabbed at another show.
It had a shoutout from Tweedy to the timeline chick, so it was the bootleg she sent everyone, I guess.

Just FYI, I was at the u2 show at the Paradise. Outside of The Who in a quonset hut at Holy Cross in 1969, the loudest show I ever heard.

Springsteen, Dec. 18, 2000, Christmas concert at Asbury Park Convention Hall

A crowd of under 2,000 and I was one of them, having snuck in no less.

It opens with Bruce alone at the piano playing a slowed down version of "For You". Still gives me chills listening to it. First time I heard "Kitty's Back" live as well.

I was there, about 10 feet from the stage. The last Bruce show where I had no idea what would be played.

A couple of other great Bruce boots:

-- The Saint, the Incident and the Main Point Shuffle -- Feb. 1975

-- The Bomb Scare Show -- Oct. 1975

-- Winterland/Passiac/Agora -- 1978

-- Paramount Theater in Asbury -- Nov. 1996

-- Legendary Night -- July 2000

Dead:

May 2nd 1970
April 28th and 29th 1971
March 24th 1973
Oct 19th 1974
Oct 14th 1980

Too many more to pick but these are my favorite (at least today)....

A while back, FunkyMountain posted a great site that had tons and tons of bootlegs. It got lost in one of the crashes, but I'd really wish he was around to post it again.

the site isn't for everyone but if you have any leadings toward jambands, funk, bluegrass and alt-country, you can find some good stuff here.

Why am I reviving a 7-year old thread?
Because these mashups are making my head explode right now.
Fourth track is my favorite.
