I'm sitting here with two ticket in my hands and am NOT impressed by this years contestants.

Maybe it's me being small minded, looking for big names. But I seriously wanted to see some of the bigger HR giants golf some balls into the far reaches of Yankee stadium.

A prostate exam given by Gary "Big Hands" Johnson would be pretty high up on the list.

Hey man. You just struck a nerve. I just hit 35 and have an exam scheduled in the very near future.

Thanks for reminding me....

But it's got Josh Hamilton.

Did you know he used to do crack? He has tattoos and everything. It's a pretty compelling story. Someone should write about it.

Wow!! I just did a little read up on him. What a story. I'm surprised it hasn't been driven into the ground by now. Then again, he doesn't play for a big market team.

At least I'll have someone to root for now.....

NBA Three-Ball is up there...but to hear announcers use their home run calls on this event is such a joke. Why don't they tape off various areas of the stadium and give prizes or charitable donations based on where a ball lands. Is Big Papi still going to do that "called shot" promotion? What a disgrace that is.

At least put Jeffrey Meier in the right field seats with his glove.

Berkman and Hamilton should be good. There's still four more spots out there and Jason Giambi has agreed to participate if he wins the fan vote. Vladimir Guerrero has said he wants to defend his title.

That foursome plus two other potential boppers — Pujols, Holliday, Braun or Sizemore — will be good.

Who's the idea eight out of anybody?

If I ever stooped so low to bet on the Home Run Contest, I'd put my money on Matt Holliday or Hanley Ramirez.

Holliday is as strong as anyone in the league and HanRam has a cool nickname.

I would like to see Uggla in it. His grip-it-and-rip-it batting approach would be fun to watch....

Until he somehow whiffs on batting practice pitches.

Uggla, Utley and Sizemore all stand a chance of being this year's Bret Boone. The smell of HR Derby Fail is strong with all three.

This could be the most unintentionally hilarious Home Run Derby in All-Star history.

Two homers wins it in the finals? That type of hilarious or were you going for something else?

What big HR giants?

Utley, Uggla, and Berkman are three of the top four in the league right now. Sizemore leads the AL. Hamilton is tied for second.

Maybe Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire can come back and do a Steroid HR Derby somewhere.

I suppose A-Rod and Pujols would sex it up a bit. Besides them, who would you want?

Pete Incaviglia's things to fix the MLB All-Star Game festivities:

1) Outifeld accuracy. Outfielders pick a ball up off the warning track from their respective field and throw to targets which are there to rerpresent the cutoff man. Similar to the NFL QB Challenge.

2) MLB's Fastest Man. Either a) from home to third (remember, triples are the most exciting play in sports, or so they say) or b) first to home. or c) first to second, simulating a stolen base using a BP pitcher. Players can't lead more than X amount of feet and can't leave until the pitchers starts the delivery.

3) The Relay. Teammates (an outfielder, an infielder a catcher). Outfielder picks up ball off warning track, relays to cutoff man, relays to home.

4) Best Double-Play Tandem. Shortstop, second baseman and first bagger from same team turn the 6-4-3 DP as fast as they can. Runner heading to first optional.

I always thought they should put outfielders from the opposite league in the OF during the Home Run Derby to try and rob cheap home runs.

EDIT: Oh, and to answer the question at hand: A BYH post.

Suck it Twins fan.

No. 4) Just put Fred McGriff out there in his cute, blue hat. He doesn't need to do anything but smile and point.

All-Star Game fixed.

The only thing more boring that the HR contest is the NHL's skill contest.

But at least with the NHL you don't have to listen to that idiot Berman.
