Anyone else fed up with this new Google BS?

I'd say about three-quarters of the time I do a google search and click on the link I want I get redirected to a website that has nothing to do with what I want and have to click "back" to get where I want.

Is anyone else experiencing this or is it a virus I now have? I've done a few scans that show nothing.

My friend has it. Not just google, any link.

To get around it... copy and paste things instead of clicking links. Or get some virus scan software.

Tony, get yourself hooked up with Hi-Jack this and scan your system that way. There's another site that'll tell you what's good and what isn't. I might be able to help you out if you need, though it's pretty self-explanatory if you follow the directions closely. If you don't, you could really **** your computer up more!

What tony is experiencing sounds pretty intense, especially if the virus programs aren't picking it up. I'd call a Geek Squad guy or somebody like that to check it out.

Even if you don't surf porn, you'd be amazed at the stuff that can get in your computer over time. I had mine cleaned a few years ago, and they said that there were more than 100 viruses in the thing.

Come to think of it, my computer is probably due for another cleaning, since it's been running a little slow.

Like Headbutt said, Hi-Jack (or HiJackthis) is probably the best thing you can put on your computer. You'll get a logfile and there is a forum where you can post that logfile the techies there tell you what to kill. Sometimes it takes a few days fro them to do it, but they are really good.

There's another program you can run the log file through and it'll tell you if it's good or bad. If it isn't sure it'll also tell you, and give you the chance to look it up and see if it's good or not.

Buy a Mac.

Not a jab at you, FB. But Macs are just too damn expensive. Just got a new HP Pavilion laptop that I really like for $650. 4 GB Ram, nearly 300 GB hard drive. 15-inch screen, webcam, HD capability, etc., etc. Vista. Nice machine.

The most basic, boring Mac laptop I saw was $1,000. To get what I wanted, we're talking close to $2,000. Wasn't worth it to me for the name alone ...

Cosmo, I've been saying the same thing for years. But my Compaq Presario is less than 2 years old, and I'm already thinking about what I'm going to get next. If I spend that money on a Mac, I can assure you it won't be for "the name alone." It's simply a superior machine, in so many ways.

That said, if budget's an issue (as it was for me last time I bought a laptop), there's nothing wrong with buying a PC. I prefer PCs, I really do. But next time ... I'm probably buying a Mac.

I agree it's a superior machine ... but not $1,300 more superior than what I got, if that makes sense. I had a Compaq that lasted a good four years but really started to slow down at the end. I've had friends with Mac laptops that haven't lasted any longer than that. Maybe five years, but that's about it.

Now if I was ever in the market again for a desktop, I'd buy a Mac without hesitation.
