I went a different direction, but OK. I guess Dennis Miller's conservatism bugs me. He came off as a smart-ass "They're all clowns" kind of guy, but then became a Bush fanboi after 9/11. Really kind of ruined his whole vibe.
I really have no problem with him being a Bushie,or his politics but when he started to pull his punches when it came to Bush - yeah it kind of killed his comedic No holds barred rep.

It was like Sam Kinison doing a set about how much he loved his wife.

There’s probably room for both discussions — athletes and general celebrities/people whose albums or posters or books you had. But I also wouldn’t be at all bothered if this was merged into your thread or deleted.

I've had this discussion regarding cancel culture - but I do think the word AND was created for a reason. Michael Jackson was a tremendous musical artist AND a violator of children.

I don't get hung up on musicians' political views. I guess it's because I don't put them on pedestals. I either like the music or not. I may not listen to or read interviews with them, but I can separate the song from the artist.
I was riding with my cousin one day, and either Springsteen or Mellencamp (don't remember), and he changed the channel saying something about not listening to the song because of their political views. I said that was idiotic. If that was the case, I wouldn't listen to Charlie Daniels or Ted Nugent from the '70s, but just because the guy is crazy doesn't mean the music isn't good.

I’m usually the same way. I used to love a bunch of Kid Rock songs (Wastin’ Time is a great tune), but every time I hear one now, all I can think is what a giant, phony dicksicle he is.

The Boomer-powered right wing screech machine internet and major media (Rupert Murdoch empire) conspiracy against Springsteen specifically pisses my ass off, especially when they go on, "I used to love him when he just stuck to music, but then he lost me."

Like oh yeah, when was that, when he "just stuck to music"?? There were (liberal) populist themes in Born To Run (1974), more in Darkness (1978), then he played the No Nukes show in 1979. If you didn't know Bruce Springsteen has been solidly liberal for 45 years you haven't been paying any ****ing attention.

I'm the same way. I used to love and crank the heck out of Bawitdaba and American Badass. I haven't listened to either in years, not because Bob Ritchie is a phony dicksicle, but because I grew out of it I guess.

Is Born in the USA the most misappropriated song in history?

Figure it’s a two-song race between that and Fortunate Son.

BITUSA has to take the cake, particularly because Bruce publicly called out Reagan pretty much instantly when he tried to hijack it, weeks after release in 1984.

It was national news for a couple of weeks, so any Boomer aged MAGGATS who claim it's a sudden shock and disappointment to them that Springsteen leans liberal had to be in a ****ing coma.
