In talking with media members, it's not 'frustration.'
It's advertising.
If that's where the advertising $$$ is going now, what about in five years?

The redesign was awful, in my opinion. Can't really blame Starks for that, though.

I don't understand how someone could write a story like that and not mention KR's grand experiment, Viewtron.

KR began conceiving of electronic delivery of news to subscribers by the late 1970s and launched it in 1983. It spent $50 million on it before pulling the plug in 1986, four years before the scene that begins the Business Week story. So it really wasn't a matter of KR being late to the party -- it had been too early. And in 1990, it still would have been too early.

You can spend a lot of money while you wait for the world to catch up with your cutting-edge idea. I don't think KR had its head up its ass; likely it was more a matter of not wanting to make the same mistake twice. If I want to open a large swimwear store on the coast of Maine, do I do it now and start hiring help, or do I wait until we're closer to summer so I don't have to carry all that overhead when nobody's buying?
