I don't understand the resentment of Reed on this thread.
He wasn't some rich snot used to throwing tantrums and getting his way.
He was the son of an Oklahoma turkey farmer and a self-made man who earned his success.
This is the same crowd that thinks Little League baseball is beneath them, yet a guy who taught Shakespeare at UCLA is an asshole for objecting to Sherwood Schwartz's goofball humor.

I don't think it's resentment of Robert Reed, so much as amusement at the complaints of Robert Reed.

He was angry that they aimed for low-brow comedy instead of an intelligent examination of the trials and tribulations facing a blended family. Perhaps he should have considered which has more likely when he signed up to do a sitcom created by the mastermind behind "Gilligan's Island."

Lol, no ****, eh? Perfect response.

For future reference, these "This" or "What he said" or "Great response" posts are empty-calorie and usually result in deadening discussion on the thread.

Fine if he doesn't like the show.

Don't star on it, then.

Maybe he saw it as a means to name recognition, which in turn led to marquee parts on grown-up productions such as Roots.

Chasing my fanny around this board again, I see.
*I* occupy the center square as far as you are concerned.

"Make love to me in a Burger King crown, baby."

I'll accept Lynde as a rough facsimile.
I am a character actor here.
But not even vaguely gay.

I doubt we'd read any ridicule regarding Tom Hanks for his "fluff" roles before he became a "serious" actor in the mid-1990s.

The Man With One Red Shoe was great cinema.

Almost as empty as your head.

While we're on a thread for a ridiculous TV show, I'm still waiting for you to name one black character on Dukes of Hazzard, you little pissant.

Dukes of Hazzard still wasn't as racist as All in the Family.

I see somebody's casting themselves in their regular blaze of glory here.

Thank god it's character acting. I'd be afraid to think regular adults think like this.
