Or maybe, just maybe, he\'ll do something smart this time and draft Calvin Johnson. (You couldn\'t really do that with Roy Williams, Furrey and then you signed Curtis).

You can\'t do that anyway.

If Millen drafts one more wideout with his No. 1 pick, the guys in white coats are going to come looking for him.

That\'s a win-win situation then. Lions get rid of Millen AND get one of the biggest impact players in the draft.

Seriously, tho, why do I get the feeling Joe Thomas will be like Tony Mandarich and Calvin Johnson will be like Barry Sanders?
Wow. Calvin Johnson, Roy Williams, and Mike Furrey? Mike Martz would have a field day.

Where have I heard that before?

Oh yeah, Williams, Williams and Rogers.
True, but Mike Williams is no Calvin Johnson.

But when he came out of college, Mike Williams was Mike Williams, just like Calvin Johnson is Calvin Johnson...

Re: Eagles get Kevin Curtis

Mike Williams did have a year off in between college and pros tho.

Re: Eagles get Kevin Curtis

You can have Jerry Rice, Lynn Swann and Randy Moss all in their prime and it's not going to matter if you don't have a ****ing line that can block and a qb to throw it ...

I thought this was an Eagles thread ... damn Lions fans, why don't you go back to the run and shoot and leave the real football to the other teams? ;D

Re: Eagles get Kevin Curtis

Does Detroit have an af2 team? Maybe Michiganers should start cheering for the Rampage in Rapids.

There used to be an af2 team that played out of the Palace of Auburn Hills, but I think it folded or moved after a year or two.

Just saw it on Comcast. Deal is for six years, no terms released. I'd say at least $12-15 guaranteed with backloaded roster bonuses and salary like Philly usually does with everyone. I like it. Add a big running back and the offense is set.

Now it times to address the defense.

Yep, they need an outside linbacker, a safety and one truly mean and vicious d-line guy.

They've been fixing the d-line for four years now ... but yes, a stud linebacker or two and some secondary help.

Re: Eagles get Kevin Curtis

The Eagles should go back to drafting an offensive lineman in the first round every year :)

That's totally not true ... in 2002 where we took four dbs in the first five rounds ... but that's the only one I can think of ..

Dhani Jones is amazing, and Jeremiah Trotter is in the prime of his career.

Plus, William Peterson James is only getting better.

No ****. But I'm happy you figured out what the blue type means.

Im happy with this signing, not exstatic, but happy. I wish they kept Stallworth. Now we need a LB. Ron Dayne was in today, and Joe Banner said on WIP that they will make a decision either today or tommorrow on him.

I benefitted from having Curtis on my fantasy league team and he had a great playoff game two years ago but I still prefer Stallworth. Isn't Curtis more of a slot guy?

Only a slot guy b/c of Holt and Bruce. He'll start as the number 2 outside guy behind reggie brown. Plus is he can move into the slot if they want b/c he's played there before.

McDougle is gone and I think Darwin Walker has overstayed his welcome. I think Bunkley can be a player if he gets his **** together. Let's just hope he's not in the wrong part of Florida the night before training camp opens.

I'd love to see them take the MLB Willis from Ole Miss, but he won't be there at 26. I think they'll trade up in the first round to get him. Did it two years in a row before staying put each of the last two years.

Walker had a good season ... especially against the Cowboys ... I don't have the numbers in front of me but it was like 5 in two games ... plus Johnson likes to rotate the d-line and Walker is a suitable guy in there ... now if our first-round picks would start living up to their potential ..

Walker plays in spurts. Two games he's good, two games he's invisible. That's my issue. The Eagles have lots of players like that. Dawkins (more b/c he's aging), L.J. Smith, Trent Cole. It's time to trim the fat and Walker is the first guy that should be sliced. L.J. is next after his contract expires this season.

Patterson is decent, but to me that's all he looks like he's going to be. McDougle is gone and Bunkley needs to step up big time this year.

The guy I think the Eagles might have their eye on for O is Ben Patrick from Delaware. Good tight end that's athletic and can actually block. Maybe in the second round.

Dude, you got a West Coast offense (spreads the ball around) and a rotating defensive line ... it's not always going to be the same guys making all the plays ... Dawkins still brings it every game and until the No.1s can outplay him, Walker deserves his spot ... and Trent Cole had a hell of a year, especially for someone who doesn't play every defensive down ... jeez ...

Calm down WB. I'm with you man. Big Eagles fan, season ticket holder since 95. All I'm saying is there are a bunch of guys that get a lot of pub that don't deserve ALL of it. Some yes, but not ALL.

Dawkins is a Hall of Famer, but where was he in the playoffs? Yes Cole did have a good year, but you're mistaken - well kind of. He did play pretty much every down during the middle third of the year with no Kearse and after they realized McDougle wasn't going to give them anything. That's when Cole wore down and Jim Johnson realized he needed to get Juqua in there. Cole sure is going to make a lot of money to be a situational pass rusher. Walker was great against the Cowboys? How many times do they play them a season? How about those great games he had against Jacksonville or Tennessee or both Saints games?

As far as the offense, L.J. Smith is a lot like Jason Dunn (if you're a true Eagles fan you'll remember him). A lot of talent, but no consistency. Trust me, I know they run a West Coast offense and if Smith were open more he'd get the ball on a more consistent basis instead of 15 in three games and then five in four games.

i think not

Dunn = 40 catches & 4 TDs in three years with Eagles
Smith = 172 catches & 14 TDs in four years with Eagles and Pro Bowl alternate in 2006
