Alicia Parlette died this morning in San Francisco. Thank you for the courage to share your story, Alicia. May you rest in peace.

In her last days, she listened to friends read aloud from her favorite book, "To Kill a Mockingbird." She died 20 minutes after her high school English teacher finished the last chapter.

When my aunt was dying from breast cancer, I sent her links to the Parlette series, which she thought were tremendous. She read all of them.

I stopped reading them because they ****ed me up royally. Amazing writer... RIP...
