If somebody posted this already, well, take a chill pill. I did a search and didn't see it.

The latest from Alicia Parlette ...

There's a new entry from Alicia:

I know. I've debated putting a spoiler in my posts, like "Don't worry, she's still alive," but that doesn't seem like the right thing to do. I also fear the worst when she goes a long time without a new entry.

I just spent the last two hours reading the first eight chapters. What an amazing story and an even more amazing person!!!

It's gotten to the point where I fear the worst every time I see one of these threads.

I hope something wonderful and miraculous happens for her.

Alas, it's hard to be optimistic it's going to end well.

Was hoping she would give an update on her condition. Is she even able to work anymore? Is she getting better? ... The dispatch before today's sort of mentioned that, but still.

Same here. ****, my heart jumped when I saw her name at the top.

I'm dittoing myself again. I need to learn to trust the RIP thread titles, and breathe a sigh of relief when it's not there. But **** if my heart didn't just jump a little again.

I searched SFgate for her name to make sure I hadn't missed an installment and discovered that she was the staffer who wrote the Chronicle's June 29 World Vibe piece. She also wrote about the tour of the Jelly Belly factory in late May.

Maybe all that means she's back at work, which would certainly count as a good sign.

Alicia has a new entry up -- it's posted tonight for Friday's paper.

Another good one - she really has a gift for storytelling.

I was talking to my brother about this (just became a surgical resident), and I asked him why they can't cut the damn thing out right now. He told me because of the location and size of it - removing it might cause them to have to amputate her leg. But he said it's theoretically possible to shrink the tumor with drugs to prepare it for surgery. I hope that's the strategy.

Update dated July 28 ...

Pain spread from the front of my pelvic bone straight back, as if someone was hammering the bone over and over to drive it out the other side. This was unlike the pain I had before, which was a constant throbbing in my right glute. I didn't have tools for this.

After Chris checked it out -- no exercises, just some tender palpating and me close to tears -- she told me to take a break from PT. I had follow-up scans already scheduled with my oncologist, and Chris wanted to hold off on any exercises until we knew more about what was causing the pain.

I would have bet lots of money and my little dog's life that the pain was from massive tumor growth. I was wrong.

There was no growth. In fact, those scans marked five months of no growth ... anywhere.

Alicia has a new entry up. If you go to the main page (www.sfgate.com/alicia), there's a link to it, but it has the wrong date (should be today's, but instead says 7/11). Anyway, here's the link directly to the new piece:

All I got is wow. Again ...
