I haven't thought much about it but, at this point, it would be hard to argue with Quentin. One thing I wonder is how voters may treat Francisco Rodriguez. I throw that out on this board especially since I know so many of you hate the idea of closers in MVP talk. And don't start screaming at me, I'm not saying I would vote for him but simply asking the question of where he may fit in the discussion.

He's not even having the best season among closers. He's just racking up the save totals because his team has played a disproportionately high amount of close games. I'd argue Nathan and Rivera are having better seasons, and they're nowhere near the MVP discussion.

How many save chances has Rodriguez blown?

He has blown five save chances, but that is in 51 opportunities.

By comparison, Nathan has blown three of his 35 save chances. Rivera has blown one in 29 opportunities.

I'll give you Lincecum and Webb. The rest I think Sabathia matches up very well with.

Webb: 17-4 // 2.88
Sabathia: 7-0 // 1.55 in eight starts. 4 CG.
Lincecum: 12-3 // 2.67
Haren: 12-6 // 3.00
Volquez: 14-5 // 2.86
Dempster: 13-5 // 2.92

I think I'd slot him behind Webb, but ahead of everybody else.

Sutcliffe won with 16-1 in 20 starts (150 IP) in '84.

CC's gonna get some serious consideration if the Brewers catch the Cubs or make the wild card.

Johnson made only 11 starts, 84 IP, 10-1. Finished 7th in Cy vote.
